Today we voted on what catastrophe should happen within our games backstory to explain why humanity has been driven into underwater domes. We decided to do this to clear the class' confusion and to also have a solid event to refer to in future documents.
Jas and I collaborated in this survey as it combines both of our areas (Plot and setting respectively) so the decision would impact us both. Due to her role in the subject, Jas had previously researched several different events that could happen to drive humanity underwater and we decided to separate them into different categories: Climatic, Natural, Man Made and Fictional. The class would then vote for one catastrophe per category and then vote for the final disaster between them.
The last vote (Shown above) resulted in the game's catastrophe being an impact event; therefore the earth would be hit by a passing meteor/asteroid and cause devastation, however the impact would be needed to be researched - to have some scientific support.
Today was quite successful, we now have a firmer idea on the game's backstory, however we will now need to research what would happen if an outer space object were to hit earth and what effects it would have on our lives - to have some scientific reasoning within our game.
