Today the level designers and writers held a meeting to discuss the definitive mechanics aimed to be implemented within the game/demo to keep each other updated on new advancements.
Now that both teams have started the production phase of the game development cycle, we hosted a meeting to share updates and keep each other informed – in order to prevent future confusion that could cost time to fix. Whilst discussing, a problem was raised, the fact that the level designers do not have access to the correct version of Unity (The software used to code the game/demo) and therefore had no practical experience with the software. Because of this, we listed all possible mechanics desired to be in the game and narrowed them down to a feasible amount for the level designers to code with that short time/experience.
With this narrowed list, not only did the level designers know what was needed/what to research but we also grew a better understanding of what game/demo’s end result will look like. Therefore, I feel that today’s session was very successful – by spotting a possible problem and solving it, preventing any future issues with the feasibility of game mechanics.
